GO BREWERS

Well, I was so excited to watch the first game of the Brewers' season against the disgusting Cubs, but they are now in the middle of a rain delay. I hope they continue with the game because I don't know what else I would do today.

Rain, rain, go away....

Maus

I recently read the Maus graphic novels by Art Spiegelman. I thought they were very good. The story was interesting and sad. The fact that the whole thing was depicted as a cat and mouse tale was quite intriguing. I am no critic, so I will not ramble on, but I will recommend anyone who hasn't done so to read these books.

Celebrate!

I have the next two days off, I work three in a row, and then I have Friday through Sunday off. Life is amazing. Tomorrow I have NOTHING planned and am looking forward to spending the day relaxing and doing the spontaneous thing. I will be watching the Brewers first game of the season on Monday, unless something lame happens like it not being available on my television because the big tv companies believe we are in the zone where the Crew is available on our local stations (which it is not) and black us out. That would suck. Friday I am going out to eat with a former coworker and am really looking forward to it! Other than that I don't have anything planned yet. Saturday we MIGHT be going to a Brewers game in the day and then we are going to see The Kids in the Hall Saturday night. We are planning on staying in a hotel in Madison Saturday night (which reminds me, I need to book one), and then we will be going to Shine a Light (the new Scorsese film about the Stones) at the imax on Sunday. I don't really have any extra money set aside for leisure, but I think I will survive.

Since I don't have to move a lot tomorrow, I think I am going to attempt some yoga tonight. Wish me luck.

Holy Pain, Batman!

I am very, very, very, very sore. I have been working my butt off at my job (and not getting paid enough for it) and I also decided to try out a new yoga dvd last night. Big mistake. I am not trying that again until I have a day off to recover. Work tonight was horrible because my whole body was stiff and sore. I also had to lift very heavy boxes and junk. It was disgustingly dirty and I have my once-white shirt and khakis to prove it. Spending tomorrow morning trying to get black and blue stains out of my clothes was not something I had planned on. Oh well, at least I am home for now.

I just thought of something. I haven't gotten any calls back from jobs I've applied for, and I think it may be because when I apply for jobs in Madison, I don't include the fact that I am planning on moving to Madison. I found my dream job the other day. Videogame tester. Too bad I'm sure it is a scam. Paying $35 bucks to apply seems fishy. Ah well, too good to be true I guess.

Well, I'd better get back to guzzling lemonade and hopefully I can catch the end of a Law and Order episode. I love that show.

I Bought a New Digital Camera!

I compiled my birthday money and bought this:

So far I like it quite a bit! It zooms a lot and is more mega pixels than my last camera. It is also a Canon so I am used to the functions. I have to play with it more to learn how to use it properly.

Easter was cool. I got to see a bunch of family. The easter bunny gave me some cool stuff as well. :)

I have to work a lot this week, but have a few days off next week and they are going to be fun.

Now I must make some tacos for my lovely boyfriend so he has something to eat after work.

I'm a Building Jumper

My flu/cold/whatever it is that is making me so ill is going away very, very slowly. My nose constantly runs and I still have a sore throat and cough. I despise working when I feel like this, but that is probably because I have such a physically demanding job.

I applied for a really good job a couple of days ago. I don't know if my resume was good enough to get me a call back or if my portfolio will be up to par if I do get said-call-back, but the job was worth applying for regardless. I meet all requirements and I have actually done similar work to what they are asking at my internship. The company is a phone/cable/internet provider and they are (basically) looking for someone to help with design work and organize outside printing information. The job starts at 37,000 or more a year with immediate benefits including health, life, dental, and eye. Retirement funds, 401k, stock, yadda yadda yadda. I think it sounds like a fun adventure so I hope I get a call back.

My birthday happened and it was a fun day of relaxing with my family. Horton Hears a Who was excellent. I bought alcohol and was IDed. Mission accomplished.

This weekend is Easter weekend and I have Saturday and Sunday off again. Since it is the Saturday after I turned 21, I am going to try to find someone to celebrate with...even though it is the night before Easter and I don't plan on getting extremely drunk. I would love to go out for margaritas or something similar. Sunday I will be hanging out with family all day and eating lots of good food.

Then it is back to a full week of work, probably. Boo working in retail! I need a better job.

Quick Update Before Work

The weekend was pretty good...considering it turned into four days off of work. Too bad I was sick most of the time. Saturday I did get to catch up with some old friends-Megan, Janice, Avory, and Jason. We hung out in Cedar Rapids and Cascade for the afternoon, evening, and most of the night. It was nice seeing them. :)

Sunday Ian and I relaxed, ate pizza, and watched The Godfather Part 3. We also went grocery shopping. It wasn't too painful.

I did a little bit of job searching over the internet for the Madison area. I found a couple of nice-looking jobs, but am unsure if I would be qualified for them. I may as well send my resume to them and see what comes back. It can't hurt, right?

I'm also brainstorming on what to paint next. I may try a Bowie portrait because he is so darn cool.

I'm off to work now (blah). Tomorrow I have off because I took off for my 21st birthday. I am not planning on getting completely smashed or anything, but I will buy some form of alcohol and hang out at my parents for the majority of the day. Ian is taking me to Horton Hears a Who also. I am very excited. I wish I would have known that everyone would be back for spring break on my birthday week earlier because I might have planned something. Oh well, too late now I guess.

Still sick.........

I have been eating DayQuil pills like they are candy. I just can't kick this! I am fairly certain it is the flu, which sucks. I hope it goes away soon because I have no health insurance and can't afford to go to the doctor. My parents offered to pay for it, but I would feel very guilty because it is my own fault that I don't have health insurance. I suppose if I can't kick it before long I will have to go though. My head hurts, body aches, throat and chest are on fire, and I have this horribly painful cough. I just want to lay here and die. I feeeeel horrrriiibbbllleeee. I called in sick to work today even though I really can't afford it. They tried to make me feel guilty that I am sick. Boo them! I wouldn't call in if I wasn't really sick!

Ugghhh

I am sick. I have a chest cold, I think. My throat hurts, my chest hurts, I need to cough constantly but it hurts so I try not to. My body aches, head hurts, and I just want to sit on my couch in my pajamas and not move. At least I have tomorrow off........

Wax On, Wax Off.........WAX NOT OFF!!!

Tonight I tried to wax my legs for the first time ever. It was a disaster! I am left with a rash and wax remaining on my legs! I am sticking to everything and can't get this icky stuff off of me! I don't think I will try this again, unless it is done professionally.

It did not hurt as much as I thought it would. It also didn't get all of the hair off of my legs. I am unimpressed.

Left to Locate the Last Trace of Waste

I work an eight hour shift tomorrow and then......

I HAVE TWO DAYS OFF IN A ROW!

I am unbelievably excited for this. I NEED THIS. Next week my schedule is better physically but not financially....apparently I work 2-10 Monday (autopull), 2-10 Tuesday (autopull), 5-10:30 Wednesday (salesfloor), and 4:30-10 Friday (electronics). Boo! Maybe I'm not doing a good enough job on autopull or maybe I'm just doing too good of a job on salesfloor that they won't let me do autopull everyday? I don't know. It sucks though because I was kind of liking not having to deal with customers. At least I won't have to do salesfloor AND autopull like I've had to do basically since I have started working there. I wish June would hurry up and get here so I could start a new job. I hate having different hours and days every week and never knowing how many hours they are going to give me.

Ian told me today that Lou Reed is going to be doing a short U.S. tour April through June. If he comes anywhere within six hours of here WE ARE GOING. It would be amazing. So far he has only announced dates out east and they are very random places, so maybe he will hit somewhere like Minneapolis or Chicago. It would be better if he would come to Madison so that we wouldn't have to drive so much.

Ack, I need to take a shower but might read some more Maus first. It is a really good book. I mean, it isn't good because it is about the Holocaust, but it is very interesting to read this man's story about surviving.

Anyway, I will write more later.

Sensation Blvd.

My body aches! I have been working super hard all week and it is killing me! Even though I'm working so hard, my manager wrote me up yesterday because there were a couple of laundry detergents out of place. I didn't even do it! He said he put in a "memo-to-file" (whatever that is) and the next step could be termination. Are you kidding me? He said the exact same thing to three of my coworkers today. There are rumors that he is going to get canned soon. That might be why he is being a ruthless tyrant right now. Although, he is a ruthless tyrant a lot of times so I guess it could mean anything. But still...that doesn't give him the right to log something bad about me that I didn't even do! I am so ready to get a new job.

I have been listening to a lot of this man's music tonight:

David Bowie.

Greatest musician ever.

So inspiring. He makes me want to create something. Hmm.

My thoughts on Brett Favre retiring:

I hope you change your mind and come back.

"Wednesday" Update

It's about 12:30am, so I wasn't sure to title this as Thursday or Wednesday since technically it is both. ANYWAY, this isn't going to be much of an update. I will write a proper entry soon, I promise, but here are some basic things about the current life of me:

- I'm working pretty much everyday. It's decent, except for when a certain manager is working. He is getting on my nerves BIG time and saying things that really tick me off.

- Ian is lovely and has been helping out around the apartment a lot lately so that I don't have to spend every second I have off cleaning and doing chores.

- We spent last Sunday being very, VERY lazy and knocked out the rest of Freaks & Geeks which there are now no more episodes for us to watch of (sad face). We also watched The Godfather Pt. 2 and it was GREAT.

- We don't have very many groceries at the moment and will have to make due until Thursday when Ian gets paid.

- I wish we were moving sooner.

That is all.

Finally, a day off!

Tonight is finally over and I have all day tomorrow to look forward to. If you don't count the cleaning and laundry part, I will be relaxing for the entirety of it. The only plans I have so far include watching The Godfather 2. That's it! Can't wait!
